Africa is perhaps Objective's favourite continent. The people are so friendly and there is a huge diversity of cultures and landscapes. Key safety concerns would be: 

  • Road traffic accidents; as a generalisation we strongly advice against driving or being driven at night.
  • Disease. Don't get Malaria. Avoid it by covering up (esp dawn and dusk), using insect repellant, sleeping under mozzies nets & take the correct prophylaxis. Please remember If you have flu like symptons, assume you have malaria and go to hospital immediately.  
  • Crime. Avoid being mugged in high threat cities such as Lagos, Nairobi & Johannesburg

He and his brother offer guided bicycle and rickshaw rides around Soweto which cover some of the most significant landmarks and give you a fascinating insight into the history of Soweto and some appreciation of how hard life was during the apartheid years. Highly recommended.
