As a destination for Gap Year travellers Europe is so often over looked. Whilst inter-railing around Europe has been popular for decades, the opening up of Eastern Europe has provided endless opportunities to explore. We would urge travellers to head east to Poland, Romania, the Ukraine and beyond. Distances can be immence and transport often antiquated but highly rewarding. We do get feed back about scams in The Czech Republic, especailly on the Prague metro and corruption amongst officials is common in many areas of Eastern Europe.
Last May I went walking in Romania, on arrival at Bucharest OTP airport we met a con artist within 5 minutes of clearing baggage. He tried to claim he was a registered bus driver providing lift to local hotel when no such service existed at that time of night. We were suspicious so checked with the Information Desk, our concern was proved right.
