Africa is perhaps Objective's favourite continent. The people are so friendly and there is a huge diversity of cultures and landscapes. Key safety concerns would be:

Road traffic accidents; as a generalisation we strongly advice against driving or being driven at night.
Disease. Don't get Malaria. Avoid it by covering up (esp dawn and dusk), using insect repellant, sleeping under mozzies nets & take the correct prophylaxis. Please remember If you have flu like symptons, assume you have malaria and go to hospital immediately.
Crime. Avoid being mugged in high threat cities such as Lagos, Nairobi & Johannesburg
