 You may have heard of the famous uruguayan town of punta del este, the so called Miama of South America. However if you're on a budget, you are going to have a tough time here. It is hugely over priced. After spending a night here, we decided to move further north an hour or so to punta del diablo. What a find. It is a small fishing town with absolutely stunning beaches. And is a lot less expensive. There is a great hostel called el diablo tranquilo, maybe even the best hostel i stayed in, in South America. We had such a good time there, and ended up staying for a lot longer than planned. Thoroughly recommend it.
