Ecuador-Peru | La Balsa Border crossingSam Lebus | 24 Feb 2015
The most inland border, up in the mountains. Not the most easy of journeys but really worth it with amazing scenery and a small border that's a bridge you walk across.
From Peru to Ecuador. Get to the northern town of Jaen, then car to San Ignacio (2hrs) then a final taxi to the border, La Balsa. (1-5hrs) From there its a truck to Zumba (1hr) and then get buses to the locations you are looking into.
We headed to Vilcabamba, really great mountain town.
Not the easiest of travel to borders, but actually crossing took 20mins. Won't see any other backpackers for a while, so nice to be off the beaten track.
