As a woman I felt really safe in Kazakhstan. Married women wear their wedding rings on their right hand though if you do want to ward anyone off!
Couldn't recommend Hostel Loco in Almaty more. I sprained my ankle coming down slipping on some ice on a mountain and they took me to th doctors, got me some crutches and were generally amazing. They will also book tours for you that are cheaper than what you see on the internet.
People seemed generally more friendly and willing to chat around Almaty. Take Kazakh and Russian translator apps.
Kazakhstan is amazing!!! You’ll have an amazing time!
