Isla Ometepe: world's largest freshwater island consisting of two volcanoes. Headed to Santo Domingo, realised far too expensive hotels no hostels. Thus headed to Santa Cruz and stayed in Little Morgan's first. Cool spot but not very nice hostel. Moved to cheaper one up the road called Hotel Santa Cruz, far nicer. Rented bikes to go see the waterfall on one of the volcanos. Worth it to see more of the island and despite hard climb through jungle the waterfall at Top well worth it. Volcano s on offer but as so cloudy on Second day rented moped, great way to see island. Really good for finding quite beaches. Boat ferry to and from island very easy and very regular.
San Juan Del Sur: nice setting but too touristy. Good places to eat and nice beach. Advised if in Nicaragua on a big date (New Years) because it's a lively place.
Chicken buses: used these virtually all the time to get around. Efficient, cheap and great fun crammed in with all the locals.
