Buenos Aires is such a fantastic city and truly lives up to it's reputation as the best night life in South America. But to make the most out of your stay, I would suggest avoiding hostels that are situated in the Microcentro, like Milhouse, the famous party hostel. During the nights it is ripe with homeless locals looking to take advantage of the tourists. Not pleasant. Also it is a long and expensive taxi ride to Palermo, the area with all the restaurant, bars and clubs. So I would suggest staying in Palermo as it definitely safer, closer to the action, and much livelier.
